The Singapore Education Technology Conference 2017 (SETC 2017) jointly organized by East Asia Research and Siam University will be held in the cosmopolitan city of Singapore.

More than 6 billion people have access to a connected mobile device and for every one person who accesses the internet from a computer two do so from a mobile device. Mobile technology is changing the way we live and learn. SETC 2017 conference theme looks at how we can harness the power of mobile technology for learning.

SETC is an exclusive gathering for teacher educators and affiliated organizations of teacher educators in all disciplines, who are interested in the creation and dissemination of knowledge about the use of technology in education. You are invited to attend and participate in this annual international conference which offer numerous opportunities to share your ideas, applications experiences and establish business or research relations in the field of learning technology for future collaboration.

Roslina Chai is a serial entrepreneur, lawyer, organizational change strategist, professional speaker and executive coach who is passionate about understanding how technological innovation can augment fundamental learning experiences.
Her professional life traversed the industries of Formula 1 technology, private equity, strategy consulting, shipping, urban development, F&B and education. Working in the trenches at the front-line of innovation for the past 2 decades, across multiple functions, sectors and countries, at both the regional and global level, Roslina has honed the unique ability to recognize patterns and trends.

Commercial Founder and Executive Chairman, CognaLearn, Duke-NUS Medical School
Adjunct Professor, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia

Brian O’Dwyer founded CognaLearn to help people learn better and faster.  CognaLearn uses patent pending learning methods and technologies developed at Duke-NUS Medical School to close skill gaps with cognitive science.  CognaLearn has developed a technology platform for blended learning, provides train-the-trainer workshops for blended learning and provides turkey blended learning solutions in the corporate healthcare sector and consumer job sector sector.

Brian O’Dwyer is also an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia in Singapore where he teaches three courses with a team based teaching method that utilizes a flipped classroom:  Aeronautical Science for Management, Airport Administration and Finance and Airline Management.  He has also appeared as an Aviation Analyst on Channel NewsAsia on 18 occasions.   Brian has been an invited speaker and panellist on the topic of blended learning at conferences in Asia, Australia and the United States.

Brian is an experienced corporate finance professional having completed 50 corporate finance transactions with a total deal value of US$15 billion.  Previously, Brian was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Skywest Airlines Limited which was listed on the London Stock Exchange AIM and the Australian Stock Exchange until the sale to Virgin Australia in 2013. Prior to joining Skywest, Brian was an investment banker at Credit Suisse in Singapore, Chicago and New York where he specialized in corporate finance.  He was also a strategy and operations management consultant with A.T. Kearney in Chicago.

Dr. Chanita Rukspollmuang

Assistant President, Siam University

Dr. Chanita is currently the Assistant President of the Siam University, Thailand. She also was a former Dean of the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Dr. Chanita has been elected twice and served consecutive terms as the President of Comparative Education Society of Asia (CESA). Her second term just ended early this year but she is still a member of CESA Board of Directors. Also she is presently Vice-President of the Thailand Comparative and International Education Society (TCIES).
At present, Dr. Chanita has been appointed in many important Thai committees. To mention a few:
• In the National Reform Steering Assembly, advisor to the Sub-Committee on Educational Management Reform and member of Taskforce Committee for the Revision of National Education Law.
• Office of the Education Council, Ministry of Education, member in the Committee of Educational Law Reform.
• Office of the Basic Education Commission, Ministry of Education, Sub-Committee on Curriculum and Education Standards, Basic Education Committee.
• Office of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, member of Research and Development Committee
• Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA), a member in the Committee for Development of Assessment Systems for Higher Education.

Associate Professor, Information Management & Information Systems, Universidade Aberta, Portugal, Co-editor of Interactive Technology and Smart Education Journal

Pedro Isaías is an associate professor at the Universidade Aberta (Portuguese Open University) in Lisbon, Portugal, responsible for several courses and director of the master degree program in Electronic Commerce and Internet since its start in 2003. He holds a PhD in Information Management (in the speciality of information and decision systems) from the New University of Lisbon. Author of several books, book chapters, papers and research reports, all in the information systems area, he has headed several conferences and workshops within the mentioned area. He has also been responsible for the scientific coordination of several EU funded research projects. He is also member of the editorial board of several journals and program committee member of several conferences and workshops.

Dr. Tan Jing Hee

Executive Director & Chairman of its Academic Board of East Asia Institute of Management

Dr. Tan Jing Hee is an Executive Director of East Asia Institute of Management as well as the Chairman of its Academic Board. He started work as a Retail Manager in a family business dealing with pharmaceutical products, toiletries and film development and processing. Dr Tan went on to become Senior Science Master of a government secondary school. After five years, he re-joined the private sector as a Merchandising Manager of Robinsons Departmental Store, with responsibilities over 6 departments in Menswear Division. In 1973, he joined the Singapore Institute of Management, initially as Information, Publications and Research officer before moving into management development responsibilities. During his 25 years stay in the institute, he helped to build it into the premier HRD organisation in the region. While in SIM, Dr Tan was also involved in establishing enterprise-wide MBO systems in six medium and large organisations in Singapore. In 1987, he co-edited a book on Developing Managers In Asia, published by Addison-Wesley. Dr Tan was the Chief Operating Officer of SIM before leaving it to pursue other interests. In 1994, he wrote doctoral thesis on Developing A Factor Model of Management Work in Singapore, for which he was awarded his Ph.D from Henley Mangement College/Brunel University.

Submit your abstract/proposal for SETC before the submission deadline. Please submit using the’ Submit Abstract’ button below. You will be asked to create your own personal account before you are able to upload your proposal. You can return to the system at any time using your user name and password to edit your information and submission.

Author Notification Date: 1st June 2017

Acceptance of proposal for oral presentation will be announced by the author notification date. The presentation instructions and acceptance letter will be emailed to all authors by this date. If your proposal is accepted you will be invited to register for the conference. Upon payment of the registration fee your paper will be scheduled for presentation in the conference.

Final Paper Deadline: 29 June 2017

Inclusion of full paper to conference proceedings is optional. If you wish to publish in the conference proceedings, please ensure that a PDF version of the full paper with the copyright form attached is uploaded through the online system by the Final Paper Deadline. Use the formatting for your final paper submitted to us. If your abstract is accepted for oral presentation, you are encouraged to submit a full paper before ‘The Final Paper Deadline’. Ensure that your paper is ready to go to press by having thoroughly read the paper for errors.

Early Bird Registration Deadline: 4th July 2017

The registration fee for the conference is lower if you pay before the early bird registration deadline.

You are a presenter if you are making an oral presentation at the conference.

The author(s) will be required to deliver a PowerPoint presentation of their research work on the conference day. Please bring along a soft copy of your presentation in a USB thumb drive. We strongly recommend bringing a back-up or emailing yourself a copy in advance in case of technical issues.

You will be allocated a 20 minute slot, please take care not to exceed it.    We suggest to aim for a 12-15 minute presentation, so that there will be time for Q&A. Your presentation should be interesting, informative, well-paced and lively.

Poster Presenter

You are a poster presenter if you are presenting your research from a paper poster at the conference.

The paper posters will be placed in the display area and the poster presenters will respond to queries about their research findings during the official networking breaks. Posters presentations must conform to the following:  

  • Your poster must measure NO LARGER than 900mm (W) x 1200mm (H).
  •  Presenters are required to bring their own magnets to affix their poster to the display panel. 

Virtual Presenter

You are a virtual presenter if you are presenting your research at the conference, but not in person.

In consideration of presenters who may be unable to attend the conference in person due to funding or time constraints, Virtual Presentations are allowed in the program. Virtual Presenters will enjoy the same validity (publication, certification, etc.) as the Presenters. We will require the PowerPoint presentation by the registration deadline so that all conference participants will have access to them during and after the conference. Please send it via email to .

You are a coauthor if you are a coauthor of a paper submitted to the conference.
